Introduction

A microwave modulator refers to the component that converts baseband signal to modulated IF (or RF) signal. An important part of microwave transceivers. In analog microwave relay communication equipment, frequency modulation technology is often used. The main technical indicators include signal to noise ratio, linear and nonlinear distortion coefficients (differential gain and differential phase).

Principle

The microwave modulator realizes the modulation function of the circuit by controlling the on and off states of the device. The more commonly used semiconductor control devices are diodes, gallium arsenide field effect transistors, varactors, and Schottky barrier tubes, etc. Diodes are widely used because of their good open-circuit and short-circuit characteristics, fast control speed, low insertion loss, and large controllable power capacity.

1. It can be connected to the digital TV set-top box, satellite receiver set-top box, VCR, DVD, and other program sources.

2. High and intermediate frequency modulation, primary frequency conversion, and acoustic surface filter processing are adopted.

3. In the circuit design, the image frequency and audio frequency CPU double phase-locked loop (PLL) design is adopted.

4. Imported high-quality broadcast level modulation chips (TOSHIBA, MOTOROAL, INTECH, TEXAS INSTRUMENTS, FAIRCHILD, etc.) are used in the devices.

5. High performance surface acoustic wave (SAW) filtering is adopted.

6. Unique filtering mode, with out of band output suppression greater than 65dB.

7. The image modulation, audio frequency offset, A/V ratio and average RF output power can be adjusted.

Function

The function of a microwave modulator is to modulate the video signal (VIDEO) and audio signal (AUDIO) provided by the signal source (which can be a digital TV set-top box, satellite digital TV receiver, DVD player, computer, camera, TV demodulator, and other AV signal sources) into stable high-frequency RF oscillation signals. Video is amplitude modulated and audio is FM modulated.
