The incident wave entering any of its ports is transmitted to the multi-port device of the next port in the order determined by the static bias magnetic field. A Drop-in Circulator is a non-reciprocal device with several terminals. For example, if a signal is input from port 1, the signal can only be output from port 2. Similarly, a signal input from port 2 can only be output from port 3, and so on, so it is called a circulator.
The principle of one-way transmission of the Drop-in Circulator is due to the use of ferrite gyromagnetic materials. This material produces gyromagnetic properties (also known as tensor permeability properties) under the combined action of an external high-frequency wave field and a constant DC magnetic field. It is this gyromagnetic characteristic that makes the electromagnetic wave propagating in the ferrite rotate polarized (Faraday effect), and the electromagnetic wave energy is strongly absorbed (ferromagnetic resonance).
