Features and Applications

The low noise RF amplifier is mainly used for the amplification of small and weak signals. It amplifies the small and weak signals received by the antenna from the air and reduces the noise disturbance, so as to provide the system with the needed information and data for demodulation.


The main requirements for LNA are:

1. Low noise coefficient (NF), that is, the noise power generated by LNA itself is low. Noise is the basic element to constrain small and weak signal detection, and any small and weak signal can be detected theoretically after amplification by LNA.

2. High gain, high gain with good flatness can not only usefully amplify the signal but also reduce the influence of lower level noise;

3. Large dynamic scale to give the input signal a variable scale without distortion;

4. It is well-matched with the signal source. The front end of the LNA is usually the RF passive filter. The transmission characteristics of this filter are sensitive to its load, so it needs excellent input-output reflection loss.


LNA is widely used in microwave communication, microwave measurement, radar, and other receiving systems. It is the first active circuit in the receiver circuit. The input end is connected to an RF filter, and the output end is connected to an image rejection filter or directly connected to a mixer. The main function is to amplify the microvolt-level voltage signal from the antenna.
