Introduction

Microwave equalizer mainly solves the problem of reducing the dynamic range of the system due to the large difference between high and low gain (insertion loss) in the frequency band in the design and commissioning of the broadband microwave system. Equalizer plays an important role in microwave communication and radar transmitter. Using an equalizer to improve the amplitude response of uneven transmission power is an effective method.

The equalizer aims at the fluctuation curve of the output power of the microwave amplification circuit of the system with the frequency. By using impedance components such as resistors and transmission line branches to form the topology of the equalization circuit, the equalization response curve is obtained to compensate for the fluctuation of the output power and achieve the flattening of the output power of the system in the working band.

Principle

In a microwave equalizer communication system, a component that corrects the amplitude-frequency characteristics and phase frequency characteristics of a transmission channel. When the sine wave with frequency f is sent into the transmission channel, the amplitude ratio of output voltage to input voltage changes with f, which is called amplitude-frequency characteristic for short; The characteristic that the phase difference between the output voltage and the input voltage changes with f is called phase-frequency characteristic, which is called phase-frequency characteristic for short.  The signals transmitted by various transmission channels are generally composed of components with different frequencies.

Function

In electronic countermeasure equipment, a microwave equalizer is  mainly used to compensate for the wide-band flatness variation of amplifier gain frequency response and feeder loss frequency response and to equalize the gain fluctuation of high-power traveling wave tubes. 

In order to ensure that the power equalizer does not affect the normal operation of the microwave transmission system while correcting the amplitude change, the equalization is required to meet the following technical requirements:

(1) It can fit as much as possible with the required amplitude-frequency characteristics within the frequency band of use;

(2) The input and output standing wave coefficients are as small as possible;

(3) The initial insertion loss is as small as possible.
