Introduction
A vertical gyroscope (VG) is a device used to measure the roll angle (roll) and pitch angle (attitude) of spacecraft, which exists in inertial navigation systems and basic input systems of various types of aeronautical instruments. The gyroscope is indispensable in aircraft. It is an important component to ensure the normal flight of the aircraft. Internal Architecture
The entire device of the vertical gyroscope is divided into upper and lower parts. The upper half of the cabin accommodates the electromechanical equipment of the gyroscope, and the lower half of the cabin contains all the system electronic devices.
The basic components of the upper cabin are mainly composed of four parts: gyro rotor, gimbal, angle sensor, and torque.
(1) Gyro rotor: Synchronous motor, hysteresis motor, three-phase AC motor, brushless DC motor, and other driving methods are often used to make the gyro rotor rotate at high speed around the rotation axis, and make its speed approximately constant.
(2) Gimbal: The inner and outer frames of the gyroscope, or the inner and outer rings, are the structures that enable the rotation axis of the gyroscope to obtain the required rotational freedom, and are also the mechanical structure that supports the operation of the entire gyroscope.
(3) Angle sensor: It is used to measure the rotation angle between the inner and outer rings of the gyroscope and the rotating shaft of the frame. This angle is the measured attitude angle of the aircraft. Usually, there are two sets of angle sensors in the gyro system, one is mounted on the frame, and the other is mounted on the corresponding support structure of the outer ring.
(4) Torque device: used to provide correction torque compensation for the correction of the spindle position. In the gyro system, there are generally two sets of correction torques, which are respectively installed on the frame and the outer ring support shell.
Type
The vertical gyroscope is composed of upper and lower half tanks. The upper half cabin is composed of various electromechanical devices, including a gyro rotor, inner and outer frames, an angle sensor, a torque converter, etc. The lower half cabin is composed of various electronic devices, including a pitch synchronizer, tilt synchronizer, mixed-signal processor, disconnect switch, etc. The gyro rotor is the core component. According to the driving mode of the gyro rotor, it can be divided into electric vertical gyroscopes and pneumatic vertical gyroscopes.
