Introduction

The microwave circulator is a multi port device that transmits the incident wave entering any of its ports to the next port in the direction sequence determined by the static bias magnetic field. Circulator, also called isolator, is a non reversible device with several terminals. Its remarkable feature is that it can transmit high-frequency signal energy in one direction. It is divided into micro optical fiber and electronic circulator. It has good applications in isolators, duplexers and reflective amplifiers.

Working principle

First, the signal of the transmitter or instrument is modulated and transformed through semiconductor devices, and then isolated and converted through optical or magnetic sensing devices, and then demodulated and converted back to the original signal before isolation. At the same time, the power supply of the isolated signal is isolated. Ensure the absolute independence between the transformed signal, power supply and ground.


Structure

The junction strip line structure is adopted. The double Y-shaped central conductor is placed between two pieces of gyromagnetic ferrite samples to form a sample junction. Three pieces of magnets are placed around the sample junction to generate a uniform and constant magnetic field for the entire sample junction.

The port of isolator and microwave circulator is changed from strip line to coaxial line. Through correct design, the sample junction and coaxial line can be well matched to meet the requirements of isolator and circulator performance. When the load is mismatched, the reflected energy will flow along the direction marked by the blue line to the external absorption resistance, and the energy will be absorbed by the resistance.

Main purpose

Generally, a three port circulator can be used as a duplexer. One port is connected to the transmitting end, two ports are connected to the antenna, and three ports are connected to the receiving end, so as to share the antenna. To prevent the reflected electromagnetic wave from burning the receiver, when used in a high-power system, a limiter is connected to port 3 in front of the receiver.
